Apollo Cafe, Melbourne

Checking out from a hotel after a late night, and driving down Spencer Street towards Dynon Road, I thought any chance of finding good coffee and a late breakfast had past.  Then I noticed an orange bicycle chained to a pole with a sign reading cafe and an arrow pointing left.  I quickly turned the car down a quiet side street where I stumbled upon the Apollo Café.

Located on the ground floor of the historical Mighty Apollo Building, the space has a trendy industrial look with exposed brick interior walls and re-claimed timber table tops.

Shortly after I arrived (around 11.00am) the place really started to fill up.  Staff were friendly and took coffee orders as soon as patrons were seated.  Poached eggs on sourdough with a few sides and a flat white are my standard café breakfast go to, and the Apollo Café didn’t disappoint.

Unfortunately I didn’t try the home made lemonade.
